Frontcover to Go Eye Palette Review

So 'technically' this palette is actually one of my christmas gifts but being the curious mind I am I went exploring. Yes I know 14 and still can't resist hunting for my presents! I'm a perfect example of what curiosity did to the cat, even though I'm not a cat :) Back on topic onto the review....

Sorry for the pretty terrible image, as i still don't have camera access, its stolen (oooh!) and hand cropped etc.
Above is the palette which has 20 shadows, well actually 25 because 5 of the shadows are duo pans! I'm not sure of the standard price of this palette, I know my mum got it in a sale and it was £16. Which is pretty good for 25 shadows. Plus a brush (even though its crap) a shadow line (Will explain in a minute) and interchangeable palette (Read below)

All of the shadows in this palette are set on a black plastic tablet I guess and you can take each tablet out of the main palette. Like this...
The colours are slightly washed out in this picture as it was taken on my webcam, (which I don't like to do due to the poor quality) but anyway the idea was to show you that you can take the shadows out of the palette. They can all come out like shown and then you can put them in the interchangeable palette. Like so....
Although I love the idea of this interchangeable palette, its in reality slightly disappointing. The shadow come easily out of the main palette but to get them into the smaller one, you have to literally ram them in. Trying to take them out is worse. You have to push them from underneath and they fly out, risking breaking etc. I really do not like the smaller palette, but that is just personal opinion. Below is a picture of the empty palette which can hold 4 shadows....

Now onto the thing I mentioned earlier called a shadowline. This is the shadowline....

I would agree with you totally if you were thinking, that it just looks like a bad picture of a liquid liner. But trust me its so much more. When you open the little bottle you will infact discover that the liquid inside is clear. This clever little invention can turn any eyeshadow into a liquid liner. Nope, I'm serious! You just swirl the nib into any of the eyeshadows in the palette, it merges with the clear liquids and voila! you have a liquid liner. Cool huh?

Lastly before I (finally) move onto the shadows themselves is the brush. The brush is crap! It is duo ended crap. In my opinion it was to crap to even bother with a photo. You cant get any colour of the brush and onto your eyes. They are kinda scratchy. Just crap!

Now the shadows, now normally you would think with palettes like these that the shadows would be all talc and no pigment. You could not be more wrong! These are really pigmented and have a gorgeous finish. They are really silky and smooth to the touch which is always a bonus! I'm afraid I can't  tell you about their crease resistance or how long lasting they are. As I cant be wearing the colours, I shouldn't know the palette exists.

The first row of 5 shadows contains a green, to light blues, a deep blue and a silver. (As seen in below pic)
In order there is Tarn green, Bright Aqua, Azimuth (look how gorgeous!), Moondust and See the Stars.

The next row, I like to call the neutrals row.

In order there is Silver Dollar, Powder Puff, Frosted Almond (such a pretty neutral, golden tone, love it!) Pale Gold (More of a greeny gold) and Copper Coin ( This a beautiful deep shimmery brown)

The next row is the doubles row, each eyeshadow pan has two eyeshadow colours and there are some pretty awesome combos :)

In order there is Plovers egg + Nine iron, Bayou + Midnight, Peaches N Cream + Holly Berry, Limeade + Choc Ice and Magic Banana + Goose Down. They are such beautiful combinations, unfortunatley the last one will most likely remain unused, as I have never been a fan of yellow eyeshadows.

And the final row is contains the three shadows getting all the 'hype', as they are brand new! The three shadows are described in the palette as Hot Twinkle baked powder impreganted with glitter. Instead of being shimmery these are glittery.

In order there is Twinkling Grape, Black Spark, Twinkling Gold, Citronella Crush, Ginger Spice.

Isn't it such a pretty array of colours? I don;t think I mentoined this even though I should of, 13 of the shadows are baked and dome shaped, the rest are just flat. All shadows are shimmery, except the three glitters and all 5 of the double shadows.

I think I've covered everything, but if I've missed something I'll just add it in later :)

How to Pull off Blue Eyeshadow

and how not to look like Pat!!

She really does not pull of her blue eyeshadow! At all.

TIP ONE -  Concentrate the blue eyeshadow below the crease. If you go any higher, keep it lighter and sheer.

Taylor Swift pulls it off here! The colour is most intense the closer to the lashline and the overall shape is flattering for her eye shape making it more wearable.

TIP TWO - Pair your blue eyeshadow with a neutral eyeshadow in your crease, something about three shades darker than your skintone.

Oh no no! This is cringeworthy! The line below her eyes is way too thick and the blue colour goes too far up! The shades suit her but the application is very very wrong!

TIP THREE - Avoid shimmery blues! They are impossible to pull off. Matte all the way.

TIP FOUR - Try using a dark blue eyeliner, just line with a very thin line. If you use black and go to thick, it is going to look like too much.

This looks amazing! The shades of blue are perfect and the shape of the eyeshadow is perfect. I think she could have skipped the liner in her water line though, it closes her eyes up quite a bit.

TIP FIVE - Keep the rest of the face neutral. Your eyes have to be the focus with this look. So nude lips and a subtle not shimmery blush.

Tip number three was broken here, big time... The blue is shimmery, the white highlight is shimmery and she has thick black liner. AND she broke the matchy matchy rule, her eye make up matches her dress.

TIP SIX - It is important that you highlight the inner corner of your eye with a matte white eyeshadow.

Doesn't this look beautiful? She has some under her eyes but its thin and blended which can work.

TIP SEVEN - Keep the eyeshadow in the same shape as your eye! This is not the colour to try reshaping with.

Thanks for reading, I  really hope you enjoyed this post. Have you ever had any blue eyeshadow disasters?

Mixed Haul (Oh the joys of spending!)

So again today, I walked into a store and left with a lighter wallet. I walked into superdrug with a specific product in mind. Well two actually. Two of the products from my Barry M wishlist http://cosmeticobsessionanon.blogspot.com/2010/11/barry-m-wishlist-just-oh-so-colourful.html   So I walked in planning to leave with the Lipgloss in Cherry Glitter and the Lip Paint in Royal Raspberry but in typical superdrug style they were sold out. So I asked one of those rather snooty sales assistant if they had either of those. Turned out they had the lipgloss but not the lip paint. So a little disappointed  I headed to pay for the lipgloss but the my beady eyes spotted a sign. This sign read '3 for 2 across all brands'. I couldn't just buy the lipgloss could I? So my greedy fingers headed to have a look at all the other products. Due to the sale they were sold out of ALL the other Barry M products I wanted. That should of been a sign, don't you think? I should have left with just the lipgloss. But hey thats not my style. So here is what I got...

  • Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in 550 Lovesick
In the picture it looks kinda purpley, its not! Its a deep, warm pink with some subtle shimmer. I have to say I am disappointed with the applicator (just a flimsy sponge tip) but I'm loving the actual gloss!

  • Maxfactor Lip Liner in 16 Rose
This is just a subtle, nudey rose colour. Really nice and creamy, the colours lighter than I originally thought. But its really pretty!

  • Barry M Lipgloss Wand in Cherry Glitter
A really pretty bright red gloss, packed full of red glitter!  I havn't tried this one yet, but I am praying its not going to be gritty feeling on the lips.

  • L'oreal Chrome Shine in 165 Golden Rose
This shadow is a really pretty golden beigey colour. On my skintone it barely shows up. it just makes the skin shimmer, so its kind of my new 'nude' shadow.

  • L'oreal Contour Parfait in 657 Rosewood

My 'stolen' picture isnt that great. The actual lipliner is the same tone as the picture but lighter shade. Its a rose with a touch of brown, quite nude, it looks fantastic worn alone.

  • L'oreal Color Appeal in Metal Plum
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this shadow! The colour is like a dusty mettalic purple, it is so gorgeous! I will so be repurchasing this.

So story of my life I went in the store intending to buy two items and I left with six  :/ But on the brighter side my wallet is now lighter and I am happy with my items.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope I didn't ramble to much.
