How to Pull off Blue Eyeshadow

and how not to look like Pat!!

She really does not pull of her blue eyeshadow! At all.

TIP ONE -  Concentrate the blue eyeshadow below the crease. If you go any higher, keep it lighter and sheer.

Taylor Swift pulls it off here! The colour is most intense the closer to the lashline and the overall shape is flattering for her eye shape making it more wearable.

TIP TWO - Pair your blue eyeshadow with a neutral eyeshadow in your crease, something about three shades darker than your skintone.

Oh no no! This is cringeworthy! The line below her eyes is way too thick and the blue colour goes too far up! The shades suit her but the application is very very wrong!

TIP THREE - Avoid shimmery blues! They are impossible to pull off. Matte all the way.

TIP FOUR - Try using a dark blue eyeliner, just line with a very thin line. If you use black and go to thick, it is going to look like too much.

This looks amazing! The shades of blue are perfect and the shape of the eyeshadow is perfect. I think she could have skipped the liner in her water line though, it closes her eyes up quite a bit.

TIP FIVE - Keep the rest of the face neutral. Your eyes have to be the focus with this look. So nude lips and a subtle not shimmery blush.

Tip number three was broken here, big time... The blue is shimmery, the white highlight is shimmery and she has thick black liner. AND she broke the matchy matchy rule, her eye make up matches her dress.

TIP SIX - It is important that you highlight the inner corner of your eye with a matte white eyeshadow.

Doesn't this look beautiful? She has some under her eyes but its thin and blended which can work.

TIP SEVEN - Keep the eyeshadow in the same shape as your eye! This is not the colour to try reshaping with.

Thanks for reading, I  really hope you enjoyed this post. Have you ever had any blue eyeshadow disasters?

Mixed Haul (Oh the joys of spending!)

So again today, I walked into a store and left with a lighter wallet. I walked into superdrug with a specific product in mind. Well two actually. Two of the products from my Barry M wishlist http://cosmeticobsessionanon.blogspot.com/2010/11/barry-m-wishlist-just-oh-so-colourful.html   So I walked in planning to leave with the Lipgloss in Cherry Glitter and the Lip Paint in Royal Raspberry but in typical superdrug style they were sold out. So I asked one of those rather snooty sales assistant if they had either of those. Turned out they had the lipgloss but not the lip paint. So a little disappointed  I headed to pay for the lipgloss but the my beady eyes spotted a sign. This sign read '3 for 2 across all brands'. I couldn't just buy the lipgloss could I? So my greedy fingers headed to have a look at all the other products. Due to the sale they were sold out of ALL the other Barry M products I wanted. That should of been a sign, don't you think? I should have left with just the lipgloss. But hey thats not my style. So here is what I got...

  • Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in 550 Lovesick
In the picture it looks kinda purpley, its not! Its a deep, warm pink with some subtle shimmer. I have to say I am disappointed with the applicator (just a flimsy sponge tip) but I'm loving the actual gloss!

  • Maxfactor Lip Liner in 16 Rose
This is just a subtle, nudey rose colour. Really nice and creamy, the colours lighter than I originally thought. But its really pretty!

  • Barry M Lipgloss Wand in Cherry Glitter
A really pretty bright red gloss, packed full of red glitter!  I havn't tried this one yet, but I am praying its not going to be gritty feeling on the lips.

  • L'oreal Chrome Shine in 165 Golden Rose
This shadow is a really pretty golden beigey colour. On my skintone it barely shows up. it just makes the skin shimmer, so its kind of my new 'nude' shadow.

  • L'oreal Contour Parfait in 657 Rosewood

My 'stolen' picture isnt that great. The actual lipliner is the same tone as the picture but lighter shade. Its a rose with a touch of brown, quite nude, it looks fantastic worn alone.

  • L'oreal Color Appeal in Metal Plum
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this shadow! The colour is like a dusty mettalic purple, it is so gorgeous! I will so be repurchasing this.

So story of my life I went in the store intending to buy two items and I left with six  :/ But on the brighter side my wallet is now lighter and I am happy with my items.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope I didn't ramble to much.

MAC, first purchase.

So I know that every beauty junkie, raves about MAC. But I have never had a product from them before. In my opinion they are so bloody expensive and don't seem to be anything special. All the raves and hype had never really bothered me. But as I have mentioned before I regularly trall through ebay looking my make up bargains. I always find authentic products for so much less than original price. The best make up in life is free, but a 1/16 of the price make up rocks too! Anyway back on topic. So on ebay I found a seller, selling a few MAC bits and bobs at outstanding prices and I mean outstanding. So after spending an hour or so doing research and checking the authencity of the products.(there can be counterfits on ebay, ALWAYS pay for make up through paypal then if its not authentic. you get your money back) So when I was satisfied that they were real I decided to place my first MAC order. And here is what I got...

  • MAC Pigment in Swish
Now drum roll, this cost me .......... £0.99 I kid you not!

  • Mac Pigment in Golden Olive
Lets have another drum roll, this one was ..........£1.37, bit more but still dirt cheap.

  • MAC Pigment in Forgery
This was the most expensive of the four I got.......£2.61, Cheap Cheap Cheap, I sound like a bird.

  • MAC Pigment in Amber Lights
This one was also  £0.99, as you can see the pot has a crack, but at that price I really couldn't care. I was willing to pid much higher for this, it is such a beautiful shade! I don't even know how to describe it.

I also got the 187 Stippling brush for £5 and a Kabuki Brush (not sure of number) for £ 5.67. Sorry no pics for those.

Hope you enjoyed this post and I apolagise if I rambled too much. I will do a post with swatches/reviews when they come.

TAG: My Makeup Story

This is actually a youtube tag and I have been watching some of the gurus who did their video tag and I think its really interesting but seeing as I lack the confidence to do a video, Im going to do a written version.

 1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
Well 12 but that was just lipgloss, I started experimenting with other products just before I was 13.

2. How did you get into makeup?
I used to sit and watch my mother get ready to go out and play with her lipsticks. I know everybody says that but its the truth.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?
Urban Decay, Maybelline, L'oreal. No7, Bourjois, Barry M and so many more.

4. What does makeup mean to you?
Make up means alot to me. It has been my passion fo forever. I'm actually really artisic and i just love the way, with all these different colours an techniques you can create a million different looks. I also love the extra confidence it gives people on a day to day basis.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
Primer, foundation, concealer and powder.

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
Pretty much the same as answer to question 4, also I love all the super cute packaging.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?
I don't really have any high end make up, actually thats not true I have a christian dior eyeshadow palette, that my mum gave me when she decided the colours weren't for her anymore. I'm going to be totally honest I see no difference between thw shadows in that palette and say Maybelline Palettes.

8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?
Educate yourself. These beauty gurus don't just magically learn everything they know. I didn't just magically learn anything I know. When I really started to get into make up, I started of with reading books, like the Bobbi Brown books and anything my local library had about make up. I then practised all the techniques and looks they had in the books. Read up.

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?
Tbh I didn't understand the pastel eyeshadows trend. I saw it looking great on people but it just didn't seem to work for me :(

I hope you enjoyed this post and I officially tag you to do this post too.

Rememeber your beautiful.

How to Create that Perfect Red Pout!

Again I know there is probs a million tutorials for this, same as my smokey eye tutorial. But because I don't have a camera, I don't want to do the more unique, slightly more complicated looks I have planned because I wont be able to show you what I'm doing. So until I find my camera or my mothers camera is fixed I'm just going to cover some of the basics. So onto the perfect red pout!.
I'm going to explain two ways to do the red pout and this first one is without gloss. (More matte)
1. You need to line your lips. You can either line your lips with a colour really close to your skin tone or a red lip liner. I prefer to do it with the red. So start with your cupids bows, then the rest of your lip. Take your time and be precise.

2. Fill your lips in with the same lip pencil. Then rub a dot of lipbalm onto your finger, blend that across the lip liner. This blends the liner and helps seal the colour in.

3. Next apply your chosen red lipstick with a lipbrush. Make sure to get right into the outercorners.

4. Take a smallish concealer brush and your concealer. Line around the outer edge of your lips and blend. This will clean up any mistakes and make your lips pop even more.

Because I absolutely hate the way lipstick and gloss look together. I'm not putting gloss in that tutorial, in my opinion the two together looks like too much product on the lips. Just not nice. If you want a look with gloss read this next bit.....

1. Use a red lipstain like Revlon lipstain + balm in Gothic. Lightly coat both your lips in this stain.

2. Coat your lips in any red lipgloss, smack lips and your done.

The second look is a bit more wearable, a bit more everyday if you get what I'm trying to say.

Hope you enjoyed this post, I don't think I rambled too much in this one :D

Urban Decay Wishlist (Warning : Its a loooooong one)

Here is my Urban Decay wishlist. Don't you just love Urban Decay???

1. Urban Decay The Vegan Palette £23.50.
UD created this palette because their vegan fans would not stop asking for it. (I am not vegan) Each eyeshadow is vegan and the palette is made from recyled packaging and all ink is soy based. But that aside the eyeshadows in this palette are just so beautiful and the packaging is gorgeous!! ( I would just like to mention, that UD never test on animals and half of their eyeshadows are vegan)

2. Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshaodow £14.00 each.
There is no paticular shades I want, I want them all! Just because of the seriously cool packaging. I love it soooo much.

3. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Electric £11.50
I really love these UD pencils, they are super creamy and blendable. I love this colour, I dont have a blue anything like it and it just looks so simply gorgeous! All though admittedly I would probs buy it and never use it. It would just sit there looking pretty.

4.  Urban Decay Pore Perfect Complexion Primer Potion £15.50
I need a primer and this one seems to be fantastic, based on reviews etc. Plus I like that its pore perfecting, cuz u know I need that.

5. Urban Decay Lip Primer Potion £11.00
So this is supposed to prime your lips and help make glosses and lip colours last alot longer. I'm a bit skeptical but I would still like to try it. If anyone has it can you tell me what you think?

6. Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil in Wallflower £11.00
Not really much to say, these are quality lip liners and I really like the look of this colour :)

7. Urban Decay Iconic Lipstick £12.50
I have never tried UD lipstick before, but I would like to and this is a pretty gorgeous colour. In my opinion its quite an unusual shade,.

Hope you enjoyed my Urban Decay wishlist and all my ramblings!!

Confidence and Me

Despite my love of make up and bright colours, I actually have very little self confidence. People on the outside never believe that they say Im so lively and fun and confident. Its hard to explain but I'm confident in my personality but not in my looks. I have absolutley no confidence when it comes to looks. My boyfriend says I'm beautiful, my friends say I look great but in my head they are telling lies. I cant see myself as pretty. Don't get me wrong I am not phishing for compliments at all. Anyway the point of this post, is at first I decided to not put any pictures of myself on this blog that way. I could be really confident on here, because it would just be my personality and I would no none of you had ever seen me. But then I started thinking make up is all about enhancing what you have and helping you to be confident. So how can I write about this topic, if I don't have some confidence myself? I'm not say its going to happen overnight but I'm going to get there :) and the first step is I'm going to post a picture here :-

This is me,
Haters can make like bees with no stingers, and drop dead (8).

I hope you enjoyed this, all though I doubt you did as there isn' much to enjoy. LOL

How to create that oh so sexy smokey eye! (my way)

Now normally I would add pictures showing each step but my camera is ahem lost and my mothers camera is at the repair shop. So i have absolutley no access to a camera. I shall do my best with my words for now and will add pictures when mine is relocated or my mothers is fixed.

For pretty much all the colors you need to create this look in one pallete I would suggest the Maybelline Stylish Smokes Quad in 04 Charcoal Smokes.  (Which is above)

1. Step one with any look is always a primer! There are so many good ones  you can choose from Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot, ELF Eyelid Primer or my personal favourite Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Just a tip - the Too Faced Shadow Insurance is £11.00 pounds which ain't cheap but if you look for ANY make up product your lemming for on ebay, I guarantee you will find it alot cheaper. I got my last Shadow Insurance for £6.75 on ebay including P&P. SO back to the look. Prime your entire eyelid from lashline to browbone with your chosen primer. Make sure the coat is thin and even.

2. Apply your base colour. Use a small, flat shader brush to pat the bottom left colour all over your eyelid, up to just above the crease. Pat instead of swipe with this colour because you will get the most colour pay off.

3.Using a tapered crease brush, sweep the top left colour into your crease. Sweep it backwards and fowards until its smoked out, leave it slightly darker at the outer corners. (Just note the shadows from the quad had lid, crease etc printed on each colour. I am not using them the way they suggested.)

4. Take the top right colour on a smal pointed pencil brush and start defining the outer V. One you have desired shape. Smudge inwards and blend till you have a smoky effect.

5. Pat any matte white shadow under your browbone (not in this quad). Blend it out and down into the crease colour.

6. Line your upper lashline with any black kohl, Benefit Bad gal in Black, Urban decay 24/7 in Zero. Just any black pencil. Then take a little of the bottom right colour on a small pencil brush and blend over the eyliner. Really smoke it out, so its not a perfectly defined line.

7. Use the same colour with the same brush and line your lower lashline. be sure to blend it out really well.

8. Dot a white eyeliner in the inner corners of your eyes, something like Benefit Eye brightening pencil. Then pat the same matte white shadow you used for brow highlight on top of the white liner. Line your waterline with the black pencil.

9. Curl your eyelashes and apply a couple coats of mascara. and you are done with the eyes :D

10. To finish this look I usually skip blush all together. I just dot some of my concealer on my lips because i have highly pigmented lips and this neutralises the colour. I then apply a little L'oreal Colour Riche Star Secrets in Eva Longoria. Which is a sort of medium nudey pink. I don't know if its still available in shops but its available on ebay.

I hope you enjoyed my smokey eyes tutorial. I know theres probably about a million smokey eye tutorials online but I think theres many different ways to create the look and I just wanted to share my way.

Haul : The bodyshop (Ooh this was a yummy haul)

So I typical me fashion my first post is going to he haul. In my defence its kind of a mini haul, its only three items!
So the three items I got are :-
  • Raspberry Body Butter £12.50
  • Raspberry Body Scrub £12.50
  • Shea Body Butter £5.00
So all in all a tidy £30 pounds was spent :/ ah and I wonder why my purse is always light! So this more to justify it to myself more than anything but I bought the Shea Body Butter because we are now hitting winter months and I always purchase this butter in winter. Because it is seriously, deeply moisturising. The raspberry body butter is my everday body moisturiser and my current one was finished. The raspberry scrub is my once a week body scrub and my friend stole my other pot. It only had a bout 1/36th of product left lol. But anyway not that it's really related but raspberrys are my favourite berry. I seriously wish it was possible to put a scent online, the two raspberry products smell just like sweet, fresh raspberries. I love how they smell!

So that was my mini but expensive haul. I hope you enjoyed my ramblings. If you want reviews of these products, just ask. Im friendly.

Hello Blog Readers :)

Its nice to meet you :) (Yes, I'm weird, if your going to read this blog, you will get used to that :)
So I have actually had a beauty blog for over a year www.onestopbeauty.onsugar.com but I just stopped blogging. I don't know I just lost the inspiration, I wasn't motivated. Every time I sat down to do a post it almost felt like a chore :| But after a while I really started to miss beauty blogging which brought me here :) Something in my head decided that creating a new blog, on a new site would bring the fun back to it. We'll see if that theory works :/ Oh and incase you didnt notice I use alot of emoticon thingmy's :D.

So I guess I should do the whole little bit about myself and this blog thingy. Here it goes. I'm a teenager living in damp and dreary england. Im actually trinidadian (Trindad and Tobago, Caribbean) and oh I miss the sun! I now feel homesick :| I have a very limited budget, which I blow on make up every time. I spend hours in stores, swatching make up and usually trying to talk myself out of buying it, with no success :/ I now sound like I have no life, I have friends and a life, trust me lol. err what else can I say? Oh, I'm currently taking my GCSE courses, I'm doing Art, History, Buisness, Textiles, Maths, Science (Triple award), English lang and lit, R.E. I plan to do Textiles, Art, Psychology and fourth undecided for A levels. After that my uni is undecided, I know GASP I seem to be the only remaining teenager that does not know what uni she wants to go too. But its going to be either an art or fashion design school or maybe a split degree in the two. Oh I dunno Lol. Then when Im a big person lol, I want to be a fashion editor on a magazine for a while then eventually a fashion designer. I couldn't pick between the two jobs, so I decided on both lol. Wow that was longer than I intended. So for the blog, it is gonna be a pile of stuff to do with my cosmetic obsession. Hauls, reviews, swatches, wishlists and also written tutorials on how to create different looks. If you look at my old blog you will see what I mean.
So Im guessing you realised I ramble on quite a bit, err so remember your beautiful :) and thanks for reading.
